Now, in honor killing or mob lynching case, the accused will get life imprisonment or the death penalty. The Rajasthan Assembly on Tuesday tabled two bills related to the two cases. The bills will be discussed and passed in the coming days. Rajasthan will be the first state in the country to bring a bill on honor killings.

On Tuesday, the Rajasthan Assembly moved a Prohibition of Interference in the Freedom of Marital Relations in the name of Honour and Tradition against Honour Killing and the Protection of Rajasthan Litigation Bill against the violence of frenzied mobs. The Rajasthan government has termed both the offences as cognizable and non-bailable offences. The government has enacted this law in addition to all other laws.

For your information, legal expert Abhinav Sharma says that the state government has declared two new crimes. If a person is convicted of these offences, he or she will be punished as provided in these laws. For example, in the violence of a frenzied mob, if a person dies and a case is registered under this law, the accused will get the maximum sentence of rigorous life imprisonment as the maximum punishment under this law is awarded.
