Dehradun: The Meteorological Department issued a red alert for heavy rains in Uttarakhand on Friday. The disaster management department and the district administration have been asked to remain on alert. A yellow alert for rain has also been issued on October 9 and 10. There is a high alert in 8 districts including Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag.

According to Dr Bikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Department, many cities of the Kumaon division may receive heavy rainfall with lightning. There is a possibility of torrential rains in all the districts of Kumaon and Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Pauri, Tehri etc. of Garhwal. Other districts may also receive rain.

Alert to these 8 districts:-

In view of the forecast of heavy rainfall, the government put eight cities on high alert. Disaster Management Authority Executive Director Piyush Rautela said that on October 7 and 8, there is a forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the districts of the Kumaon division of the state and adjoining Garhwal districts. In view of this, all the designated officers and departmental nodal officers of the Disaster Management IRS system will be on high alert. Let us know that in many states, the rainy season is not ending, people are still suffering from the rain in many states.
