Vaishali: The Vaishali district administration of Bihar has had to withdraw its order to implement a dress code for teachers following a lot of pressure from the teachers' associations. On July 13, the district education officer issued a directive to implement the dress code for elementary and secondary school teachers but had to withdraw the order within 24 hours.

The decree issued to implement the dress code for elementary and secondary school teachers reads that the teachers wearing kurta pyjamas or wearing jeans and t-shirts, in general, send a wrong message about their image in society. The District Education Officer had written this letter to all block education officers of the district, principals and principals of all elementary and secondary schools and issued instructions to ensure strict compliance with the order.

In the same notice of the district education officer, it was written that "Teachers have an important role to play in the construction of society. Teachers are in the role of guides for the students in the school and outside the school as well. For this reason, it is necessary that teachers always come to the school wearing formal full or half-shirts and pants, so that the students have a positive image of them.'' However, after the order of the administration to implement the dress code for the teachers, there was a commotion among the teachers and this decree of the administration also started going viral on social media.
