Lucknow: The district court of Varanasi, the city of Baba Vishwanath, has deferred the decision on the carbon dating of 'Shivling' found in Gyanvapi mosque premises. The court will now pronounce its verdict in the case on October 11. During the survey of Gyanvapi premises, a Shivling-like shape was found in the ablution, which the Hindu side was calling Vishweshwar Shivling and the Muslim side was calling it a fountain. After this, the Hindu side demanded that carbon dating of this structure should be done, which will show how old it is and then it will be easily decided whether this structure is a Shivling or fountain being said by Muslims.

A heavy police force was deployed around Varanasi court and Gyanvapi complex ahead of the court proceedings. During this time people from both sides were present in the court. On behalf of the Hindu side, the four plaintiff women and their lawyers Vishnu Shankar Jain and Harishankar Jain had reached the court in the Gyanvapi-Shringar Gauri case. Along with this, government lawyer Mahendra Prasad Pandey was also present in the district judge's court.

At the same time, before the district court's decision, Vishnu Jain, the lawyer of the Hindu side, had said that we have not demanded carbon dating for Shivling. We have demanded that it be investigated by the expert committee of ASI. How old this Shivling is, whether it is a Shivling or a fountain? If some carbon particles are found around the Shivling, then it can be investigated, but our demand is only to investigate it by forming an expert committee. The court will now give its verdict in the case on October 11.
