“It is a murder of democracy and Modi is using Income Tax, ED, CBI and now the Election Commission against opposition parties. I now accuse BJP candidate Tamilisai Soundararajan in Tuticorin of storing crores of money. Will I-T or EC take any action or search her place?” said DMK president MK Stalin. He accused the Centre of threatening opposition parties as BJP and AIADMK are certain to lose the Lok Sabha and assembly byelections. “Modi is using EC to tarnish the reputation of DMK. I call for reforms in Election Commission,” said Stalin.
On the I-T Department conducting It Raids at Kanimozhi’s house, the DMK candidate for the Thoothukudi constituency, Mr. Stalin wondered on whose complaint the action was initiated. He also wanted to know why no such search was conducted at the house of BJP State president and party candidate for the constituency Tamilisai Soundarajan.
On the other hand, senior AIADMK leader and Tamil Nadu Fisheries Minister D. Jayakumar demanded that the Election Commission disqualify the candidate indulging in such malpractices. In all, 23 candidates are in the fray from the Vellore constituency.
