Veteran Congress leader AK Walia passes away due to CORONA

New Delhi: Veteran Congress leader AK Walia, who was a minister in Delhi's Sheila Dikshit government, passed away this morning. AK Walia was infected with corona virus. He was undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital. Mr Walia has taken over the health ministry in Delhi's Sheila Dikshit government.

Significantly, corona infections have made things extremely worse. More than one lakh 82 thousand people have died across the country so far. The total number of infected people increased to 9,30,179 after 24,638 new cases of corona virus infection were registered in Delhi on Wednesday. The death toll has risen to 12,887 after 249 patients died here yesterday. The rate of infection in the capital is 31.28 per cent, which means that every third sample is confirming the infection.

At the same time, the metropolis is also facing a shortage of oxygen and beds. Delhi hospitals have only 18 beds left for covid patients till 11 pm. More than 8.31 lakh people have recovered in Delhi so far. The number of patients under treatment is 85,364. With nearly three lakh new cases of corona virus infection in the country, the total number of infected people has increased to 156 lakh 16 thousand. The death toll has risen to 1,82,553.
