One of the most popular filmmakers and music composers in South Industry SV Ramanan passed away on September 26 at the age of 87. According to reports, the reason behind his death is presumed to be age-related ailments. The final rites will take place tomorrow at 3 PM in Chennai. 
K. Subrahmanyam, has lent his voice to various radio and television advertisements. Fondly called as ‘silver-tongued broadcaster’ by his well-wishers, Ramanan had produced several radio and television commercials, short films, documentary films and serials.

Composer Anirudh Ravichander and actor Hrishikesh are his grandsons. In the recent interview S V Ramanan speaking about the achievement of his kids said, "Anirudh is one of the top music directors in south India today. What I’m impressed about him is that he is not at all aware of his celebrity status… that he has become a big music director, or has so much craze among youngsters, especially girls. These things have not gone into his mind. He’s someone who goes out of his way to help people. Hrishikesh has started acting in films and he has got a very bright future. He is also very down-to-earth. He is very talented and very witty."

On the work front, Subrahmanyam has made several documentary films on arts, architecture and spiritual leaders such as Ramana Maharshi. He had directed a Tamil feature film Uruvangal Maralam, starring Y.G. Mahendran and Suhasini. The film, which was released in 1983, had guest appearances of several actors, including Sivaji Ganesan, Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth and Jaishankar. Ramanan had composed the music for the film.
