Veteran Malayalam actress Kozhikode Sharada passes away

Kozhikode: On Tuesday, veteran Malayalam actress Kozhikode Sharada died in Kozhikode. She was 75 years old at the time. She was admitted to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital on Monday night after complaining of breathing problems. She died at the same hospital where she worked as a nursing assistant for 27 years after suffering cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment on Tuesday morning.

Sharada's acting career began in the theatre. In 1979, she made her film debut in Angakkuri. She went on to appear in over 100 films and several television series. Sharada is best known for her work in Malayalam films such as Sallapam, Kannezhuthi Pottum Thottu, Kutty Srank, and Ennu Ninte Moideen. Her most recent appearance was in Sreevalsan J Menon's short film 'Jara.' She was married to AP Ummar, an actor and theatre artist, and they had four children together.

Saji Cherian, Kerala's Minister for Films and Culture, expressed his condolences for her death, saying she was a powerful actress who was seen in the roles she played and will be missed.
