Mumbai: Sony Picture Network and Reliance Group's Viacom 18 is going to be merged and an announcement will be made soon. This directly means that popular general entertainment channels Colors and Sony TV can become part of the same group. This will be a big deal for the Indian TV world and this could lead to a monopoly of the newly formed group on the TV entertainment world.

Experts in the media industry say that the coming together of Sony-Viacom will give a tough challenge to the Disney-star, especially in the General Entertainment (GEC) zone of Hindi. According to sources, talks in this regard are in the final stages. According to a person, talks were going on for a long time about this deal, but Reliance Group chief Mukesh Ambani got busy due to investment agreement of all foreign companies in Jio platforms. According to this information, 'this will not be a cash deal. In this, both companies will exchange each other's shares.

Viacom 18 is a 51:49 partnership between Reliance Group's Network 18 and Viacom. After the merger, Sony's stake in the said company can be 74%, while Viacom 18's partnership can be 26%. Talking about Reliance Group alone, then its partnership can be around 12%.
