Kerala- Kochi: On Friday, December 31, 2021, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, who had a brief stopover at the naval airport here his route to Lakshadweep, was greeted warmly.

Vice President, who came by special aircraft from Delhi, was greeted by dignitaries including Industries Minister P. Rajeeve, Mayor M. Anil Kumar, MLA K.J. Maxi, and Chief of Staff of the Southern Naval Command, Rear Admiral Antony George.

The Vice President will spend two days in Lakshadweep, attending events on the islands of Androth, Kadmat, and Agatti before returning to Kochi on January 2. At Kochi, he'll pay a visit to the Navy's soon-to-be-commissioned indigenous aircraft carrier, which is currently undergoing a series of sea trials.

Naidu will also pay a visit to Kerala's lone DRDO facility, the Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory. At the laboratory, he will lay the groundwork for a towed array integration centre.  He is also scheduled to attend a ceremony commemorating Fr Kuriakose Elias Chavara's 150th death anniversary at Mannanam. The Vice President will be in Kottayam on January 3 and will leave for Nagpur on January 4.
