New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will preside over the GST Council's 46th meeting today in New Delhi. The conference will also be attended by Union Ministers of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary and Dr Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad.

"The 46th meeting of the GST Council will be chaired by FM Smt @nsitharaman tomorrow in New Delhi. MoS for Finance @mppchaudharyand @DrBhagwatKarad, as well as Finance Ministers of States and UTs and Senior officers from the Union Government and States, will attend the meeting " On Thursday, the Ministry of Finance sent out the notification.

This conference is crucial ahead of the Union Budget, which the Finance Minister will give to Parliament on February 1st. In its second term, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's NDA government will present its fourth budget.

The conference is significant because it takes place ahead of the presentation of the Union Budget for 2022-23 to Parliament on February 1, 2022.

Prior to todays' crucial meet, Yesterday, Nirmala Sitharaman chaired the pre-budget consultations with the Finance Ministers of States and Union Territories (with Legislature) for Union Budget 2022-23 in Delhi.
