Srinagar: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav took to Twitter today (April 29) to share a timelapse video of the construction of Anji Khad bridge. He told that India's first cable based rail bridge has been completed. According to the Railway Minister, there are 96 cables in this bridge. At the same time, the total length of cable strands is 653 km. The timelapse video was shared with a caption that read, "In 11 months, India's first cable-stayed rail bridge is ready. All 96 cables are set! Total length of cable strands 653 km." The placement of each cable can be seen from first to last in the video.

 

Explain that, this bridge has been constructed under the most challenging Udampur-Srinagar-Baramulla-Rail Link Project of Indian Railways in Reasi district of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The bridge is about 80 km from Jammu by road. The Anji Khad Bridge connecting Katra and Reasi in Jammu and Kashmir is India's first cable-stayed bridge on the Indian Railways. The bridge is a part of the National Project, Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project. This bridge is located in the Himalayan mountains, there were many challenges in making the bridge and further this bridge has to iron the ever-changing gap of newly folded mountain of seismic tendency. The total length of the bridge is 725.5 metres. 

As per reports, this cable-based bridge has 96 cables. That is, 48 ​​cables have been designed on each of the lateral and central spans. The total weight of these cables is 848.7 MT. At present, out of total 47 segments, 44 segments requiring support of cables have been launched. The remaining 3 segments will be launched without stay cables as per the design.
