The makers of one of the most awaited films of the year 2023 Rajkumar Santoshi ‘s 'Gandhi Godse Ek Yudh', have recently dropped the trailer. The film shows the ideological war between the two personalities Gandhi and Godse. However, it once again started a debate between Gandhi and Godse.  Various people also criticized Rajkumar Santoshi for glorifying Godse and showing Gandhi in Bad light.

A promotional event of the film Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh was disrupted by the protestor alleging that the film shows Mahatma Gandhi in poor light and hence should not be released. A press conference that was held to showcase unseen footage and dialogues from Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh, the protestors sitting amidst the journalists shouted slogans against the film and Rajkumar Santoshi. The makers accused of glorifying Nathuram Godse.

The director of the film Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh speaking about the film said, "I love the people of our country, I trust them and their judgment. I have made this film for them. Having said that, we can’t deny the fact that Godse’s voice was suppressed for 70 years. Jab koi baat ko dabaya jata hai, ya woh chupayi jati hai, toh phir woh baad mein fat thi hai. The truth erupts violently. In my research and writings on Godse, I found out that he didn’t even advocate violence. It’s important that his voice be heard. Sunn lete hain na, kya harz hai? Let's form our opinions after hearing his story. I am confident that I have made a good film."

Earlier the director speaking about the film said, “I sympathise with both Gandhi and Godse. As much credit as Gandhi got, he also faced allegations. To date, people ask why he couldn’t be more assertive about saving Bhagat Singh from the death sentence.” “Similarly, during his trial after killing Gandhi, Godse gave a statement in court, which was curbed for decades. Until recently, no one knew what he had said. I feel that was unjust to him. People should know what he had to say in his defence. The idea behind this film is to give a platform to Godse to express his viewpoint, and also to Gandhi to respond to the allegations. We are presenting both sides without being partial to anyone.”

'Gandhi Godse Ek Yudh features Chinmay Mandlekar will be seen playing Nathuram Godse in this Rajkumar Santoshi directorial. Chinmay impressed the masses with his exemplary performance as Farooq Malik Bitta in The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri. The film also features Arif Zakariya, and Pawan Chopra.
