Target Killing is very common in Jammu and Kashmir valley. In yet another shocking incident a 40-year-old man belonging to the Kashmir Pandit community was shot dead in Pulwama on Sunday in the latest targeted killing in the Valley. The victim has been identified as Sanjay Sharma. He was shot by terrorists while he was on his way to a local market.

The victim was shifted to the hospital but died due to the injuries. Sharma was a security guard at a bank in Jammu and Kashmir. The Jammu and Kashmir took to social media to share the news and wrote,  “Terrorists fired upon one civilian from minority namely Sanjay Sharma S/O Kashinath Sharma R/O Achan Pulwama while on way to local market. He was shifted to hospital however, he succumbed to injuries. There was Armed guard in his village. Area was cordoned off. Details shall follow.”

The police official said that the area has been cordoned off and a hunt launched to nab the assailants. Another target killing of a Kashmiri Pandit left people disheartened. The National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said he was “deeply saddened to hear of the demise of Sanjay Pandith. Sanjay was working as a bank security guard & was killed in a militant attack earlier today. I unequivocally condemn this attack & send my condolences to his loved ones,”.

The Kashmiri Pandits have been protesting in the Valley for the past few months over the alleged killing of Rahul Bhat, a Kashmiri Pandit, in Budgam district on May 12, 2022. As many as 14 people belonging to minority communities, including three Kashmiri Pandits, were killed in Jammu and Kashmir last year, the Rajya Sabha was informed by Union minister of state for home Nityanand Rai recently.
