At the behest of former CBI Special Director Rakesh Asthana, who was surrounded by criticism and controversies, an attempt was made to collect Rs 50 lakh from a Chandigarh doctor. On the basis of the doctor's complaint, an inquiry has been ordered against Asthana, former DGP of Chandigarh Tejinder Singh Luthra, DSP Satish Kumar who has gone back to Delhi and Inspector Ashwani Kumar.

In this case, the CBI has written to Manoj Parida, the Chief Vigilance Officer of the Union Territory, that the whole matter belongs to Chandigarh. At the same time, the authorities have misused their powers. For this reason, only the Vigilance Officer of Union Territory (UT) should investigate this matter.

This action has been taken after his consent. Currently Rakesh Asthana is posted in Narcotics Control Bureau and Tejinder Luthra is posted in Delhi Police. This case is of Dr. Mohit Dewan, resident of Sector-21, Chandigarh. He has alleged that at the behest of IPS Rakesh Asthana, the then DGP Luthra wants him to get Rs 50 lakh from his foreign patient. For which DSP Satish Kumar and the then SHO Ashwini Kumar made every effort. He was harassed a lot. Sometimes police was sent to his house, sometimes he was taken to police headquarters and threatened in DGP's room.
