The final schedule of Asuran began last week. The film, which also stars Manju Warrier, is based on Tamil novel Vekkai, written by Poomani. It is tipped to be a revenge drama that traces the fight of an oppressed community against those oppressing them. Asuran is touted to be a revenge thriller based on the Tamil novel Vekkai. Dhanush will be seen in a role of a character who seeks to avenge the death of his father. He will be seen playing dual roles as both the father and son.

The makers are yet to reveal complete cast and crew details of the project. However, recent reports indicate that Tamil director Balaji Sakthivel, best known for directing award-winning films Kadhal and Vazhakku En 18/9, has been roped in for a crucial role, and according to the grapevine, he plays the antagonist. This project marks the Tamil debut of Manju Warrier, who has paired up with Dhanush for the first time. The film also stars actor Karunas’s son Ken Karunas in a key role.  Last seen playing an accidental gangster in Vada Chennai, Dhanush will be seen playing a daily wage labourer in Asuran, and he will be seen in a fierce avatar. If everything goes as planned, the film will hit the screens this summer.
