It is matter of pride for a filmmaker and all the cast and crew to see their hard working paying back by getting nominated for the presetigeous awards. This year, it is Rima Das’s Village Rockstars, is the official entry from India for the Oscar 2019.

Village Rockstars is Assamese movie, written and directed by filmmaker Rima Das.the film was premiered at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).The film also won the accolades at the 65th National Film Awards by winning the Best Feature Film ‘Swarna Kamal’ award.  

Village Rockstars is very honest story which is set in the rural area. The story of the movie revolves around Dhunu, a girl who grows up in poverty and learns to fend for herself. However, her financial conditions do not stop her from following her dream of forming a rock band. Village RThis film stars Bhanita Das, Basanti Das and writerrn and directed by Rima Das. ockstars is all set to hit the theatres on September 28, 2018.

Up until now, only three films until now have made it till the last round and were nominated in the foreign language film category that are Mother India (1957), Mira Nair’s Salaam Bombay and Lagaan. It would be interesting to know that will movie can win the oscar for India.
