Commonwealth and Asian Games champion Vinesh Phogat captured the gold medal by defeating Luisa Elizabeth Valverde of Méladeres of Ecuador. Vinesh Phogat has also won the first gold medal of the year 2020. Vinesh reached the final after defeating China's Qianyu Pang 4-2 in the semi-finals.
