The President to the Prime Minister or other leaders, the police or other security forces are deployed and it is also necessary for them. But it is a bit strange to hear that a tree should be given 24 hours of protection. But this is absolutely true. There is a tree on the hill of Salamatpur between Bhopal and Vidisha, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, which is protected like a VIP leader.

Four or five police personnel are deployed to protect this tree, who monitor it 24 hours. A separate water tanker comes from the Sanchi municipality for its irrigation. Officials of the agriculture department also come here every week to check the tree. It is believed that 12-15 lakh rupees are spent every year on the maintenance of this tree. Actually, it is a peepal tree, which is known as Bodhi tree. He planted this tree in 2012 when the then Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited India. Lord Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree 531 years before Christ. This tree has very special importance in Buddhism.

In the third century BCE, Emperor Ashoka sent his son Mahendra and daughter Sanghamitra a branch of the Bodhi tree to Sri Lanka to propagate Buddhism. He planted that Bodhi tree in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, which is still present today. The Bodhi tree under which Lord Buddha attained enlightenment is actually in the Gaya district of Bihar. An attempt was also made to destroy this tree many times, but it was a miracle that a new tree would grow every time. However, in the year 1876, this tree was also destroyed due to natural disaster, after which in 1880, the British officer Lord Cunningham got the branch of Bodhivriksha from Anuradhapuram in Sri Lanka and restored it to Bodhgaya. Since then, that tree is still present there.
