Trinidad: One of the greatest cricket heroes will experience a historical occasion during the second Test of the West Indies vs. India Test series. It will be Virat Kohli's 500th time representing India, a significant moment in a glittering career filled with glory and triumph.

When he steps onto the Queen's Park Oval field in Trinidad, he will also become the only player with an average north of 50 across all forms, which is an amazing accomplishment given the company he keeps with true game legends.

Inzamam ul-Haq, who missed the milestone by just one match, and Steve Waugh, Muttiah Muralitharan and TM Dilshan are the other four cricketers who retired while in the 490s. Kohli stands out among them because of his ability to adapt to what the various formats require of him.

Kohli has played in all three of the sport's formats more than 100 times. When he played in his 100th T20I against Pakistan for the Asia Cup last August, he made history by becoming just the second man, after the New Zealander Ross Taylor, to accomplish that accomplishment.

The 100th Test match between India and West Indies, friendly rivals throughout the decades with legendary players on the team sheets on both sides of the divide, marks Kohli's 500th appearance for his country. West Indies now lead the race 30-23, but India has recently improved and is catching up quickly after winning every series since 2003.

Delhi hosted the first-ever Test match between the two sides, which ended in a tie between Lala Amarnath's India and John Goddard's Windies. The first Test between the two sides on West Indian soil was held in Port of Spain, where the teams are now meeting again.

One of the most recognizable and defining sportsmen of the 2010s in any sport, Kohli has been an absolute running machine throughout his Indian career. Even at the age of 34, he continues to be a key member of the Indian longer format teams, and before his career ends, he plans to amass 30,000 international runs.
