Dindori: In Madhya Pradesh's Dindori district, virginity and pregnancy tests have come to the notice of girls and women who gave their names in mass marriages organized under CM Kanyadan Yojana. Local Congress MLA and former cabinet minister Omkar Markam opposed virginity and pregnancy tests in the name of medical tests and attacked the state government.

Former minister Omkar Markam told that if the government has made any rule for conducting such tests under the CM Kanyadan scheme, then it should be made public. Along with this, he has termed conducting such tests as an insult to the girls of the district. In fact, on Saturday in Gadasarai town of Dindori district, the district administration got 219 couples married under the CM Kanyadan scheme. But, the names of some girls and women who came for marriage in this mass marriage program were not found in the list. Thereafter, it came to light that she was not included in the marriage program due to the positive pregnancy test report.

A Girl, resident of Bachhargaon, says that she had filled the form for getting married under the Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana, after that, her medical test was done at the Bajag Community Health Center. Due to this a pregnancy test was also done. After the report came positive, her name was removed from the list. Another girl from Bachhargaon says that she was not told anything about the medical test. Then her name was removed from the list of marriages. Girl says that she had reached the venue to get married with full preparation. She could not even get married. Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat Medni Maravi said that 6 forms were sent from her place. It is not right to do pregnancy test of girls for marriage in CM Kanyadan Yojana. There itself, BJP District President from Dindori Awadhraj Bilaiya accused Omkar Markam of doing politics. He also said that it has come to light in the past that some of the girls attending the wedding were found pregnant.
