Tamil drama film, Visaranai is the national award winning film. It is based on exploitation of prisoners and corruption of police system is announced as India's official entry to the Oscars in the category of Best Foreign Language Film 2017.

Vetrimaaran's film is picked from 29 films under the head of the Film Federation of India's jury, Ketan Mehta. The film is based on M. Chandrakumar's novel on auto rickshaw driver's experience when he and his friends are getting locked up into false charges. The film is produced under Dhanush's Wunderbar Productions.

The film is already the winner of Best Feature Film in Tamil, Best Supporting Actor and Best Editing. It also won the Amnesty International Italia Award 2015. The official announcement for the nomination list will be made in January 2017.

Hope the movie gets nomination in Oscars.
