In the eighth round of the $ 15,000 Prize Legends of Chase online tournament, former World Champion Vishwanathan Anand suffered a 0.5–2.5 loss against world number three Ding Liren. He is bested for the seventh time in this tournament.
Anand, who broke the string of 6 consecutive defeats in the last match, lost his first match against the Chinese player late Tuesday in just 22 moves. The second match has been a draw after 47 moves, after which Liren won the match with 41 moves while playing with black pieces in the third game.
Anand is in the last place with Liren and Peter Leko after scoring six points in the points table. 50-year-old Anand will play against Vasyl Ivanchuk in the ninth and final round. World's No.1 player Magnus Carlsen defeated Russia's Ian Nepomniachtchi. In the tiebreaker but the Norwegian player won because of playing with the black pieces. Carlson is on first followed by Nepomniachtchi (19) and Anish Giri (15).
