Volkswagen on Wednesday rolled out its first sub 4-metre sedan, the Ameo, from its Chakan plant in Pune. The company hopes that the Ameo will enable it to recapture a higher share in the domestic market.
The Ameo was developed in a time period of around three years and will be available at showrooms soon. While the price range for the vehicle is yet to be announced, the company said it has invested Rs 720 crore for developing the vehicle.
Andreas Lauermann, president and managing director, Volkswagen India said "We are focussing on India. This is a priority market for Ameo."
