Hyderabad : Doctors in Telangana have performed an amazing feat by removing a volleyball-sized tumor from the stomach of a 65-year-old woman. The elderly woman has fully recovered after removal of the tumor by complicated laparoscopic surgery. Surprisingly, the tumor was born at birth. And the woman never has any problem.

A woman from a rural area complained of chest and abdominal pain, vomiting and fever. She has been experiencing pain for the past few months and has consulted a gastroenterologist for treatment. Doctors rarely mentioned her case and expected death from the tumor. According to doctors, the patient did not experience any problems due to the tumor and he complained of abdominal pain a year ago.

Laparoscopic surgeon Dr Venkat Pawan Kumar told a newspaper that the tumor was not cancer but was located around the lining below the lungs. "I did not see the tumor more than 4 cm in diameter and it was a challenge to remove it from the laparoscopic surgery. She had severe pain in the right side of the abdomen for a year. The woman had gastric symptoms from the doctor. The tumor showed that it was congenital."

According to the doctor, the tumor may initially be small but has gradually grown to volleyball size over the last 20-30 years. Dr Kumar said, "A team of doctors under me underwent six hours of surgery to dissect the tumor and remove it using an endobag." Tumor condition is also very rare, he said. It is around the heart. The woman remained in the hospital for about 10 days. The woman has fully recovered after a successful surgery last week.
