Anand L Rai has also made a Zero movie with Shah Rukh Khan before Atrangi Re which did not get much special response from the audience. People were hoping that Anand L Rai would get Shah Rukh Khan back on track but that has not happened so far. Talking about the failure of Movie Zero, Anand L Rai said, "When I start a movie, I think behind it, but with a big star, there is pressure from the audience, which becomes a completely different experience. I feel like I am not ready to withstand that pressure. According to me, I should not sign a very big project.''

According to media reports, he further said, "I was working with India's biggest superstar in Zero. I made a movie with him, which is a big deal for me. I am happy that I was able to make an original movie. I can't deny that I couldn't bear the pressure of Shah Rukh Khan's stardom. But Zero is not a flop, it was a learning experience for me. I know how to fly but I found out how to make a landing.''
