Panaji, The Goa government suspended the water sports due to rough sea for two days which will be going to resume again. An order has been issued by Ports department for suspending water sports for two days - yesterday and today - after death of a tourist in South Goa during a water sport.

Captain of Ports James Braganza, "We had issued the orders after there was a casualty on the Colva beach. Water sports was stopped yesterday and will resume tomorrow".

According to him, only para-sailing and jet-ski would be allowed and that too under restricted timings. According to Braganza, these activities would be permitted depending on the weather condition and winds.

The department will be meeting again on May 30 to decide the fate of water sports activity, he added.

Drishti Lifesaving Services spokesperson said, "At the time of the incident, Drishti (lifeguard providing firm) had some of its most experienced and well-trained lifeguards at the location".

He further added, "Although best efforts were made, the tourist could not be revived. The lifeguards were on high alert since the weather was extremely dangerous for water sports".
