चाणक्य नीति का श्लोक 

खलानां कण्टकानां च द्विविधैव प्रतिक्रिया ।

उपानन्मुखभङ्गो वा दूरतो वा विसर्जनम् ॥

In this verse, Chanakya has treated the evil people i.e. enemies and thorns as one. According to him, only two ways to avoid evil people and thorns. Chanakya says that they should be completely crushed by shoes by any other means, or they should change their way by looking at them from a distance.
