New Delhi: Indian Air Force Chief VR Chaudhari has given a big statement regarding the war. He said that earlier we used to prepare ourselves for short and quick wars, but now is the time to prepare for long-lasting wars. The IAF chief was responding to a question on what ultimately happened to Russia, which failed to win the war despite being much stronger than Ukraine.
Emphasizing on the lessons of the Russia-Ukraine war, the Air Force Chief said that the need for air superiority over the battlefield is important, but the war did not see the selection of an objective. Regarding fighting the war in the twenty-first century, the Air Force Chief said, 'Some things like selection and maintenance of targets, conflict termination criteria and use of technology with proper strategy are very important.' Talking to the media, the Air Chief, when asked about Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), said that UAVs are less useful in disputed air defense areas like drones. However, the Airforce will include drones under Atmanirbhar Bharat.
The Air Force chief further said, 'Regarding fighter aircraft, we will continue to focus on indigenous production without compromising on the difference between technology and capability.' Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari said, 'We are in favor of converting air power into aerospace power with the help of space application, which is very helpful in navigation, position, and time mapping.'
