Chennai: Thunderstorms, rain and storms have disrupted normal life in Tamil Nadu. So far, 12 people have lost their lives in incidents related to heavy rains. A red alert has been sounded in view of the possibility of heavy rainfall in many parts of Tamil Nadu at the end of the week.
According to the MET department, heavy rain may occur in several districts of the state on November 11 and 12. According to the MET department, an area of low pressure has developed over the Bay of Bengal, which has led to a red alert for heavy rains. In view of the threat, 11 teams of NDRF have been deployed in different areas. At the same time, 7 teams of Tamil Nadu State Disaster Response Force have also been deployed. Tamil Nadu Revenue and Disaster Management Minister KKSSR Ramachandran has informed in this regard.
According to the department, Tamil Nadu, Karaikal may receive heavy rainfall till November 12. The low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal will be reduced to a deep pressure by November 11 and will reach the north Tamil Nadu coast. This is likely to bring heavy rain to coastal districts. In view of this threat, a red alert has been issued for November 11 and 12 in several coastal districts of the state. There is a possibility that some areas may receive more than 200 mm of rainfall.
