New Delhi: Cyclone Nivar is a threat for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry due to increasing air pressure in the south-west coasts and the southern Bay of Bengal. On November 23 in Puducherry and Chennai, strong winds have been predicted. According to the Meteorological Department, this strong wind is likely to turn into a storm in the next 24 hours.

The storm is expected to reach Karaikal and Mamallapuram on the coast of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on 25 November. If the wind pressure moves northwest, then Nivar storm can also knock on the Sri Lankan shores on November 24, while going northeast. Due to the effect of Nivar storm, there may be more than normal rainfall in the coastal areas. Strong winds along with rain can also increase the problems in these areas. Due to the impact of the storm, the rainfall in the areas of South Peninsular India is expected to be more than normal.

Heavy rains are expected in the coastal areas of Rayalaseema and Telangana in Andhra Pradesh from 24 to 26 November. The Meteorological Department said in its forecast that there may be heavy rains on November 24 to 25 in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and on November 25 to 26 in Andhra Pradesh's southern and Rayalaseema regions and on November 26 in Telangana. During this time, the Meteorological Department has advised fishermen not to go to the beach and take precautions. Apart from this, teams of NDRF have also been asked to remain alert for relief and rescue work.
