Met department confirms poor visibility and extreme weather conditions in Delhi

New Delhi: After Makar Sankranti, the national capital has not only increased the cold wave, but the fog sheet is increasing every day. Dense Kohari sheet was seen in Delhi NCR on Saturday morning. Talking about visibility, it is proving to be difficult to see even at a distance of 50 metres. The Met department had also predicted that cold wave conditions could be seen again in Delhi after Saturday.

With dense fog, the cold wave conditions in Delhi NCR are also tremendous. Delhi's Palam area recorded a temperature of 9.8°C at 5:30 am, which is likely to fall to 0.2°C during the next 24 hours. Safdarjung recorded a temperature of 8.6°C, which could fall to 1.2°C during the next 24 hours. With dense fog, the air quality index in Delhi-NCR has also seen a significant increase. According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), the Delhi Air Quality Index (AQI) has been 492 in the critical category.

The Met department had predicted on Friday that dense fog would be seen after 16th January. At the same time, the temperature may also see a steep decline. The Met department has predicted dense fog on January 17 and 18 and the temperature is also likely to reach 3-4°C.
