Most of the states of India are currently witnessing a heatwave outbreak. Due to this, people are also getting to bear the brunt of the heat. Recently, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that the heatwave will continue in many states even today. Apart from this, the department has also informed that heatwave conditions are likely to prevail at most of the places in western Rajasthan. However, heatwave conditions will also continue in many parts of eastern Rajasthan, parts of western Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, south Haryana, Delhi, Punjab and Vidarbha.

At the same time, the IMD in its weather bulletin said that after the next two days, the temperature in these states will come down and there will be relief from the heatwave. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Ernakulam and Idukki districts of Kerala till May 16 while the Orange Alert for the southern districts.

Amidst all this, Chief Secretary VP Joy convened a high-level meeting of district magistrates and issued instructions to set up relief camps if required. During the meeting, the Chief Secretary was also directed to install of an alarm system to inform the people in case of any emergency. Earlier in the day, the weather scientists said, "A red alert has been issued for Saturday and for Idukki, while an orange alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Thrissur districts till May 16." 

At the same time, let us tell you that the red alert indicates heavy to the very heavy rain of more than 20 centimetres in twenty-four hours. At the same time, the orange alert means very heavy rain from six centimetres to 20 centimetres. Also, the yellow alert means heavy rain between six and 11 centimetres. Recently, imd said that wind speed reaching 40-50 kph is likely to blow along the Kerala coast and fishermen have been advised not to venture towards the sea till May 16. On the other hand, light to moderate rain is likely to occur in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kerala, Lakshadweep and parts of Tamil Nadu and south Karnataka.

Apart from this, the remaining parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Tamil Nadu may receive light to moderate rainfall. Light rain is likely to occur in Goa, south Maharashtra, south Chhattisgarh and some places over Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Marathwada, Telangana and the western Himalayas.
