With the onset of new year in India, the weather has also changed. According to the information received from the Meteorological Department, the temperature in most parts of North India has been recorded. Rain or snowfall may occur over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and parts of Himachal Pradesh during the next 24 hours. Along with this, fog is continuing in some areas of North India due to which 29 trains of Northern Railway Region are running late. The weather has become pleasant due to fresh rain in Chennai.

On January 2 and 3, a warning of light to moderate snowfall has been issued in many districts of Himachal Pradesh due to the activation of western winds. Rain is expected from January 1 to 4 in some parts of North West and Central India. Light to moderate rain is expected from January 2 to 4 in some parts of East India. According to the Meteorological Department of Delhi, maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to increase for the next 2 days. The department has predicted light to moderate rain at some places in Punjab and Haryana on January 2 and 3.

The Safdarjung area of the capital Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 3.2 degrees Celsius. 2.0 in the Ganganagar area of Rajasthan and 1.6 degrees Celsius in Patiala in Punjab. Ludhiana was the coldest area in Punjab where mercury was recorded at 0.3 degrees Celsius. Pathankot recorded a minimum temperature of 0.8, Adampur 0.4, Halwara 0.6, Bhatinda 0.9 degrees Celsius. Karnal was the coldest area in Haryana with a minimum temperature of 0.6 degrees Celsius. Hisar recorded a minimum temperature of one, Ambala 2.4 and Chandigarh's 3.5 degrees Celsius.
