Market Closing Updates: Key benchmark indices on the weekended Friday ended flat due to erratic global market movements with the Sensex closing at 58,803.33 after rising 36.74 points, or 0.06%. The index fluctuated between 58,558.64 and 59,108.66 during the course of the day. The NSE Nifty fell 3.35 points, or 0.02% to close at 17,539.45.

State Bank of India, ITC, HDFC, Larsen & Toubro, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, NTPC, and Kotak Mahindra Bank were among the gainers from the Sensex pack. However, the laggards were Maruti, Reliance Industries, IndusInd Bank, UltraTech Cement, Nestle, and Tata Steel.

International Markets: Shanghai closed in the black, but markets in Seoul, Tokyo, and Hong Kong ended lower. In mid-session trades, European stock exchanges were trading in the green. On Thursday, the U.S. markets mainly closed higher.

The release of U.S. jobs data, which may shed light on impending Fed moves, caused selling pressure on most international markets today, which made it difficult for the market to find a clear direction.

Crude Oil:Brent crude, the international standard for crude oil, increased 2.01% to USD 94.22 per barrel.

FPIs: According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net of Rs. 2,290.31 crore on Thursday.
