WEF Davos: India positioned away from frozen slippery slopes, says Adani

NEW DELHI: Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani has said that and may be the primary bright spot among several large economies as it is s advantageously positioned away from frozen slippery slopes.

"Our multi-vector, non-partisan strategy has ensured that we are well-respected and have become one of the major voices batting for the emerging economies," Adani said in his address at the WEF event in Davos. As a result of the forum's significant participation by Indian businesses and government representatives, the country's expanding prominence was clearly obvious. "There is a problem for the World Economic Forum. Everything from the ease of information availability to live streaming making it more convenient to watch and multitask to climate change making it less snowy on the slopes, anxious travellers, and a war with no end in sight is causing a decline in momentum for what was once the world's top thought leadership event. The German Chancellor was the sole G7 leader present, possibly for the first time ever, he noted.

"The easy access to chairs in whatever restaurant we entered was the telltale clue, in my opinion. As opposed to being informed that we should make reservations a year in advance (indeed, this is what we were told at pre-Covid Davos! ), we were greeted with open arms. Despite this, there is little disputing that Davos continues to draw large crowds and is quickly evolving into a renowned business networking event," Adani added.

I was shocked to learn about significant layoffs in the 'infallible' tech sector and economists' predictions of a global recession in the third quarter of 2023 before the WEF's 23 meeting. The accuracy of economists' forecasts today is on par with my skiing ability. Both are on precarious ground.

The decoupling of China and the US, which has significant global repercussions and will significantly weaken economic globalisation, is what Adani described as the "Great Fracture" in addition to the growing geo-economic fragmentation and weaponization of economic policy.
