Kolkata: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in West Bengal is gearing up to address a pressing issue: the alleged delay in releasing MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) funds to the state. In response to this concern, the West Bengal unit of AAP has decided to stage a protest march, starting from the Gandhi statue on Mayo Road and culminating at Raj Bhavan. During this rally, AAP party leaders intend to meet with Governor C V Ananda Bose and formally submit a deputation to address the delay in fund disbursement.

Arnab Maitra, the AAP's chief spokesperson in West Bengal, outlined their plan, stating, "We will organize a rally to protest the delayed payment of MGNREGA dues. At the end of the rally, a team will meet Governor C V Ananda Bose and hand over a deputation to him, urging him to look into this matter."

Interestingly, in parallel, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has also organized a protest program in Delhi scheduled for October 3. Their protest centers around concerns about the alleged withholding of funds by the Central government. In a display of solidarity, around 25 buses filled with TMC volunteers set out from Kolkata on Saturday for the planned protest in the national capital. This movement is anticipated to involve over 4,000 participants, who will travel in a convoy of buses as part of the demonstration.

These actions by both AAP and TMC underscore the significance of the issue regarding MGNREGA funds and its impact on West Bengal, prompting political parties to take to the streets in a bid to address the matter and advocate for timely fund allocation.
