Kolkata: The two-day special session of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly is going to start from January 27, in which the state government will pass a resolution against the new agricultural laws brought by the Center and discuss the issues of agitating farmers. State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Partha Chatterjee has told the press on Friday night that a letter has been sent to Assembly Speaker Biman Bandopadhyay and requested to call a special session. He said that issues related to GST will also be discussed during the session.

Chatterjee further said that the draft of the proposal to be united against the agricultural laws of the Center will also be sent to the Congress and the left parties. The Left parties and the Congress had requested CM Mamata Banerjee on January 1 to convene a session of the Legislative Assembly on agricultural laws. BJP Chief JP Nadda is on a tour of East Vardhman district of West Bengal today to launch a new campaign of the party to woo farmers, almost a month after the attack on his convoy.

The BJP president will take out a rally in Katwa and a roadshow in Vardhaman city on his one day tour, which will be followed by a press conference. Nadda will launch a fist rice project against the BJP-led central government to weaken the anti-farmer allegations of the opposition camp, under which he will collect rice from farmers' homes and tell them about the benefits of the new law.
