Kolkata: The body of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Debendra Nath Ray has been found hanging in West Bengal. The body of BJP MLA Debendra Nath Ray has been recovered from Bindal near his village. BJP says that the MLA was first killed, then his corpse is hanged.

BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya said that "Slanderous and cowardly act. The murder of BJP leaders did not stop under Mamata Banerjee's rule. Hembat MLA Debendra Nath Ray, who joined BJP instead of Trinamool Congress (TMC), was killed. His body was found hanging. Was his crime is that he joined BJP?" West Bengal BJP said that MLA Devendra Nath Ray's body was recovered from Bindal in his village from Hemtabad, the reserved seat of North Dinajpur. People clearly say that he was killed first and then hanged. What is his crime? That he joined the BJP."

BJP leader Rahul Sinha has demanded a CBI inquiry into the death of MLA Debendra Nath Ray. He said that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is behind this murder and a conspiracy has been hatched to make the murder look like a suicide. I demand Mamata Banerjee that a CBI inquiry should be conducted in this entire episode. Debendra Nath Ray contested the reserved Hematabad seat for the Scheduled Castes in 2016. He had contested on CPM ticket and won. Congress also supported Debendra Nath Ray. After the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Debendra Nath left the CPM and joined the BJP.
