Jalpaiguri jail inmates attack officials with stones to get bail amidst corona scare

Kolkata: There was a dispute between the police and the inmates of not getting bail at the Central Correctional Home in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal on Saturday. Due to Coronavirus, lockdown has been implemented across the country till May 3, due to which these prisoners were unable to get bail. Chief Discipline Officer Asim Acharya has told that the prisoners threw stones at the security guards of the jail and locked the entrance. Police have reached the spot as soon as they get information about this incident.

32 new cases of corona have been registered in West Bengal on Saturday morning. According to data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, so far 287 people have been caught in the virus in West Bengal. At the same time, 10 people have died due to this deadly virus. Kolkata, the capital, has the highest number of infections, where 105 people have been found corona infected.

Let us tell you that the number of patients infected with Coronavirus is increasing continuously in the whole country. At the same time, according to data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of corona positive cases in India has crossed the figure of 14,000.
