Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has been accused of sending fewer testing samples to the Central Testing Lab. So far, only 2523 samples have been sent by West Bengal for investigation. Dr Shanta Dutta, director of the National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases, Western Region, has alleged this.

So far 95 Corona infected cases have been reported in West Bengal. But the real reason is not to spread the infection less, but to reduce the screening of people. Till now West Bengal has sent only 2523 samples for investigation. While it is a densely populated state. The total population here is more than nine crores. Dr Shanta Dutta while talking to the media said that this is a big deficiency. Last week we did not get even twenty samples per day. The state government will decide how many people will be sent a sample. So if the government sends more test samples then we will be able to check more people.

Public places will not have sanitizing tunnel and spray

Dr Dutta further said that initially, we were the only centre for the test. Then we used to get 90-100 samples daily. But now many more centres have been created for the test. According to that, now we have very few samples coming. We have trained the staff for the corona test at all the centres. Therefore, the state government can send samples wherever it wants.
