Kolkata: Following the entry of AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi in the proposed assembly elections in 2021 in West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) camp has been stirring, as Mamata Banerjee has shown considerable activism over Muslim appeasement over the past decade. Now in West Bengal, Owaisi is getting the support of Abbas Siddiqui, one of Bengal's most influential maulanas. Experts say that in 2011, with the help of Muslim vote bank, Mamata Banerjee defeated the leftist in power for 3 and half decades.

There is a discussion in the political circles of West Bengal that Asaduddin Owaisi has decided to give 50 seats to Abbas Siddiqui. Abbas is Maulana of Furfura Darbar Sharif located in Jangipara of Hooghly district. His support for Asaduddin Owaisi indicates a large mobilization of Muslim votes in Bengal, which will have a direct impact on the Mamata team. He confesses that work is going on on a political formula to contest elections with Asaduddin Owaisi.

It is believed that if Abbas and Owaisi contest the elections together, then this alliance may make it difficult for the BJP along with Mamata. This is because the polarization of Muslim votes has begun in Bengal. A hallmark of this has also been seen in a video shared by journalist Abhijeet Majumdar on Twitter, in which Abbas Siddiqui is making claims about the Muslim population in Bengal. In this video, he is seen saying in Bengali, 'This is Bengal and Muslims constitute 35% of the population here. We Muslims are the majority here. Adivasis, Mathua and Dalits are not Hindus, that's why we are here in majority. ” Majumdar wrote in its caption that the same strategy appears here - divide Hindus, unite Muslims.
