Kolkata: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has made several important revelations after the arrest of Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Manik Bhattacharya in the West Bengal teachers' recruitment scam. According to reports, many high-profile people have been involved in this scam. The ED has also collected several important documents and digital evidence in this regard.

The ED has seized a letter addressed to CM Mamata Banerjee in addition to a letter suggesting the transfer of money to several bank accounts. All these points to the fact that a lot of money was taken in lieu of giving jobs to people. The ED has also claimed to have seized a CD containing the names and roll numbers of candidates selected for the state's primary teacher examination, among other important evidence in the multi-crore teacher recruitment scam (SSC scam). According to the report, the ED has also said that a letter purportedly addressed to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been recovered. It confirmed that each of the 44 candidates had paid Rs 7 lakh in lieu of the job. The amount was allegedly recovered by a TMC leader.

The ED arrested TMC MLA Manik Bhattacharya on October 11, 2022, in connection with the Bengal teachers' recruitment scam case following the arrest of former West Bengal education minister Partha Chatterjee. In the charge sheet filed by the ED, it was revealed that Partha Chatterjee and Manik Bhattacharya together have committed a scam of crores in teacher recruitment. The investigating agency had also received many important information regarding Manik Bhattacharya from Partha Chatterjee's phone. The ED arrested Partha Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee in connection with the case on July 23, 2022.
