Apple is set to unveil its highly anticipated iPhone 16 series on September 9 during a special event called "It's Glowtime." The new lineup will include four models: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Reports indicate that these models could be available in stores by September 20. Pricing details suggest the iPhone 16 will start at $799 (approximately ₹66,300), the iPhone 16 Plus at $899 (approximately Rs..74,600), the iPhone 16 Pro at $1,099 (approximately Rs 91,200), and the iPhone 16 Pro Max at $1,199 (approximately ₹99,500).

In anticipation of the new release, several older models, including the iPhone 14, iPhone 13, and iPhone 15, have seen significant discounts. For example, the iPhone 15 was recently listed at ₹63,000 on Flipkart, down from its original price of ₹79,900, and the iPhone 14 Plus was available for ₹54,999. These offers have led many to question whether it's better to buy a discounted current model or wait for the new iPhone 16.

Recent price reductions are partly due to a decrease in import duties on components from 20% to 15%, leading Apple to lower the prices of several iPhone models by 3-4%. The iPhone 13, for instance, saw its price drop from ₹59,900 to ₹57,600. The iPhone 15 series also received price cuts, with the iPhone 15 now priced at ₹79,600 and the iPhone 15 Pro Max at ₹1,54,000.

Experts suggest that if you currently own an iPhone 15 series model, it might be worth sticking with it unless the new iPhone 16 offers features you find irresistible. For those using older models or switching to iPhones, the discounted iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max present a strong value proposition, especially with their support for Apple's advanced features.

However, if you are willing to spend over ₹1 lakh and are interested in the latest advancements, waiting for the iPhone 16 could be worthwhile. The new series is expected to include enhanced features like a dedicated camera control button on the Pro models and slightly larger displays. The iPhone 16 series will likely be powered by the new A18 chip and feature 8GB of RAM, with potential improvements in camera and battery performance.

Ultimately, whether to buy the current models at discounted prices or wait for the iPhone 16 will depend on your individual needs and budget. With the official launch approaching, stay tuned for more details from Apple’s “It's Glowtime” event on September 9.
