Importance of Proper Nutrition During Pregnancy

Maintaining a balanced diet is crucial during pregnancy as it directly impacts the health and development of the baby. Adequate nutrition helps in preventing complications during pregnancy and childbirth while also reducing the risk of birth defects and ensuring the overall well-being of both mother and child.

Essential Nutrients for Pregnant Women

  1. Folic Acid: Folic acid plays a vital role in the development of the baby's neural tube, which eventually forms the brain and spinal cord. Pregnant women are advised to consume foods rich in folic acid such as leafy greens, citrus fruits, beans, and fortified cereals.
