Geneva: The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that there is no evidence that the Beckley Calumet-Guérin (BCG) vaccine used primarily against tuberculosis can protect people from the novel coronavirus. The news agency quoted the Daily Situation report as saying, "The WHO does not recommend the BCG vaccine for the prevention of corona infection due to lack of evidence."
The WHO stated that "Experimental evidence of studies on both animals and humans suggests that the BCG vaccine has a non-specific effect on the immune system. These effects are not well characterized and clinical release is not known." The WHO continued, "Two clinical trials addressing the question are underway and WHO will evaluate the evidence when it becomes available."

The WHO further cautioned that "The BCG vaccine is helpful in preventing severe tuberculosis outcomes in children, but may increase the incidence of disease and death due to tuberculosis when localized supply." No vaccine has been produced so far, however research is going on on this corona.
