What's Behind PM Modi's Apprehension: Rahul's 14-Minute Address out of 37

NEW DELHI: On Wednesday, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh took a pointed jab at the government, suggesting that during Rahul Gandhi's 37-minute speech in the Lok Sabha, he was only featured on Sansad TV for a mere 14.37 minutes – less than 40% of the screen time. Ramesh openly questioned, "What is Prime Minister Narendra Modi concerned about?"

Mocking the government's behavior, Ramesh, who also holds the position of the party's communication in-charge, stated, "During the No-Confidence Motion, in Rahul Gandhi's inaugural address following his reinstatement after an unjustified disqualification, he spoke from 12:09 p.m. to 12:46 p.m. – a total of 37 minutes. However, the Sansad TV camera captured him for just 14 minutes and 37 seconds, amounting to less than 40% of the screen time. One must wonder, what does Modi find so intimidating?" Ramesh, who also serves as a Rajya Sabha MP, questioned.

Ramesh's remarks followed Rahul Gandhi's impassioned speech in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, where he launched a scathing attack on the BJP and the Prime Minister. Accusing the BJP of causing "India's demise in Manipur" through their politics, Rahul Gandhi also criticized the Prime Minister for his overbearing arrogance, claiming that it was causing harm to the entire nation.

It's worth noting that Rahul Gandhi's status as a Lok Sabha MP was revoked on March 24, subsequent to his conviction in the 2019 'Modi surname' defamation case. However, the Supreme Court intervened and stayed his conviction last Friday, leading to his reinstatement as a member of Parliament by the Lok Sabha Secretariat on Monday.
