WhatsApp Trials New Feature to Send Voice Messages to Meta AI

Meta-owned WhatsApp is testing an exciting new feature that could change how users interact with its Meta AI assistant. Currently available in beta, this update allows users to send voice messages directly to the AI chatbot. This feature is being rolled out in the WhatsApp beta version for Android, specifically version 2.24.16.10, according to the feature tracker WABetaInfo.

The new capability introduces a voice message icon in the chat interface, located next to the text input field at the bottom of the screen. Users in the Google Play Beta program can use this icon to record and send voice messages to Meta AI. The AI will then convert these audio messages into text-based responses, enhancing user interaction.

This development adds a new dimension to Meta AI's functionality, which previously included generating images and now extends to audio processing. This feature is particularly beneficial for users who prefer speaking over typing, especially those who are on the go or find typing inconvenient.

Additionally, WhatsApp is testing another feature to improve user interaction: a double-tap reaction for messages. By double-tapping a message, users can quickly add a heart emoji, similar to features on Instagram and Facebook. This new option, also in beta, aims to boost engagement and simplify interactions, though its official release date has not yet been announced.

These updates reflect Meta's ongoing efforts to enhance user experience through innovative features on WhatsApp.
