Atalji gave 'timeless speech' in Parliament

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was as great a politician as he was a great orator. Everyone admired his ability to express his point of view in a polite and effective manner. Be it Parliament or the road, he always took care of linguistic dignity. Vajpayee's speech style was such that his words seemed to be on the right target, but his words would never hurt anyone's heart. One such speech was given by Atal Ji in the year 1996 after the fall of his 13-day government. The government led by Atal Ji could not prove the majority in Parliament with just one vote.

Ajal Ji could collect 269 votes during the floor test, while 270 votes were cast against him. In such a situation, he had to resign from the post of Prime Minister. Then Atal Ji gave a memorable speech in the Lok Sabha before his resignation. Giving a befitting reply to the allegations of political parties calling BJP a party of cow belt, he said, 'We won in Haryana, got support in Karnataka. It is true that we are not that powerful in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, but we have an organization. In West Bengal too, we got a little less than the percentage of votes. If you talk about votes, talk about 10 percent votes. Atal Ji further said, 'There is a party of every individual in this house and they are trying to remove us by gathering against us. They have every right to try it. But he is one. One man's party. Let's go alone Let's get together from our constituency and come to Delhi. Why get together for the good of the country? So welcome. We are also serving the country in our own way.

Vajpayee had said that behind these efforts of ours is 40 years of spiritual practice. This is not an accidental mandate. This is not a miracle. We have worked hard. We have gone to the public. We have fought. Our party is a 365-day long party. This is not a party going out like a mushroom in elections. Today we are being put in the dock for no reason because we could not get a little more seats. We believe that we have a weakness. We should get a majority. The President gave us a chance. We tried to take advantage of it but did not get success, that is a different matter. But, we will still sit in the house as the biggest opposition party and you will have to run the house with our cooperation. Don't forget this. But we also assure you that we will give you full cooperation in running the house and running it properly. But how will you form the government? What program will she be on? I do not know how that government will run.

Atal Ji said that 'We do not have a mass base, we do not have wide support of the people. If you want to make power by leaving us and you think that that government will be durable. I don't see any signs of it persisting. At first it is difficult to take birth. It is difficult to survive after being born. How much interest will this government be able to do for the country which is surrounded by contradictions? This is a question mark. You will have to run to Congress for everything and you will become dependent on them. Vajpayee had said, 'I don't know now. It was discussed earlier that some conditions are being imposed. Then it was said that a coordinating committee would have to be formed. We do coordination on the floor as well, without that the house does not function. You want to run the whole country. It is very good. Our best wishes are with you. We will continue to work for the service of our country. We bow our heads in front of the numbers. And let us assure you that the work which we have taken in our hands will not sit comfortably till the nation fulfills its purpose, till then will not sit comfortably. Speaker Sir, I am going to submit my resignation to the President.

Decision will be taken next week on postponement of UP elections
