On this, the king asked for some time from Yama. Yama gave the king a little time and after consulting his guru, the king fed food to a thousand Brahmins. All Brahmins were happy with this process and blessed them. Due to this wrath, the king got salvation. It is said that this day of providing food was the fourth day of Kartik month, Krishna Paksha. Since then, Narak Nivaran is celebrated as Chaturdashi.
